hoookay so I am applying to CSSSA Animation and this is for the “What is Unique About Me?” Prompt
It doesn’t ask for an artists’s statement for this prompt but I have a lot of thoughts about it so I mayyy send one. Idk do any alums who are rooting through the csssa tag have advice?
The thoughts I’d like to articulate would go something like this:
This image attempts to address my unique traits and interests within the context of being an artist and within the context of being a person.
-My interest in history, modern wars especially, is reflected in the overarching WWI themes of the piece (I basically have a crush on wwi it’s embarrassing)
-Im really interested in languages, and the two languages I have the best grasp of, French and Arabic, are represented on the map and the photo. The date on the photo is the date marking the beginning of the Arab revolts against the Ottoman Empire during World War One. The date is written in Gregorian form with North African numerals, indicating the photographer was likely a foreigner…
-I love wwi-era planes, and the girl is leaning out of a Caudron G.3 (Why is she in a French plane? Why is she wearing an American helmet under her hijab? Why is she closing the wrong eye? Are these artistic liberties or oversights? The answer is both! ( ´ ▽ ` )ﾉ )
-I love maps, and the map is the state of European empires during WWI.
-The moths are there just because I think they’re aesthetically pleasing creatures and they fit the ambiance

I went on a field trip to the Denver Art Museum with my art history class to see the Van Gogh exhibit and I got reprimanded for sketching :)
I decided to break things up for the sake of organization
wrong-pipe will be my funny shit/personal blog, and junior-sweet will be for pretty things and inspiration!
Also lawn and I and a few others are trying out dreamwidth in the hopes of bringing back LJ/diary-style blogging :) I’m icosahedron over there.
